CSOM
(Center for Sex Offender
Management)
www.csom.org
On February 21, 1998 the
US Department of Justice sent Pastor Pete and Agnes Fiske to Phoenix Arizona
to attend a conference sponsored by
The Center for Sex Offender Management (CSOM).
The purpose of the meeting was to bring teams from ten US Corrections locations
together that have innovative methods in managing sex offenders being released
from prisons. By sharing various methods being used, setting goals for the teams
to further develop their methods, and providing Federal Funding for projects it
is intended that the management of sex offenders will be improved nation wide.
The Vermont team consisted of Bob McGrath & Georgia Cumming from the VT
Treatment Program for Sexual Aggressors, Dianne Smith from Probation & Parole,
Sr. Lorraine Ambrozini a Volunteer, and Pete & Agnes Fiske. One of the main
reasons Vermont was chosen is because of the involvement of volunteers in
supporting offenders being released.
It appears that there will be further gatherings and work for the teams in the
future.
This is a Ministry direction that we never expected and may lead to The Church
at Prison becoming a national consulting resource.
Pastor Pete
Note:
Pastor Pete was again sent to another CSOM Conference in Baltimore MD on
December 7-9 1998, as part of the Vermont Team. These gatherings will continue
with the intent of improving the management and supervision of released sex
offenders nationwide.
CSOM has developed a Website that explains what they do. Click on this link to
