To: Ministry Friends                                                                                                                                                                         September 2007

On behalf of The Church At Prison and the people we serve we constantly thank you and praise God for your prayers and support of this ministry. Fall is in the air, the leaves are starting to change and the Lord is ever present, continuing to change lives and seasons in the men and families we serve.

Hepatitis C – Healing

Justin had been diagnosed with Hepatitis C and verified with blood tests three times in the last year. In July and August the inmate prayer intercessors at The Church At NorthWest began praying with Justin weekly, believing in faith that Justin would be healed. Then in late August on a Wednesday night Justin successfully worked through God’s principles (Matthew 18:15-16) in dealing with personal conflict. His unity with another brother was restored. On Friday God blessed him with new blood test results showing that he no longer had Hepatitis C. The doctors were amazed at this rare healing. What a witness! ALL GLORY AND PRAISE TO GOD!

Psalms 133 (Blessed Unity of the People of God)
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing -- Life forevermore. NKJV

Baers Tree Service

After residing with Pastor Pete and Jo for two months Mike Baer moved into his own residence in Burlington. During the time he was with the Fiskes he started his own Tree Service Business with his brother Nate. Mike is the Tree Surgeon and Nate is the Salesman. Nate hands out flyers advertising the business and makes contact with customers needing their service. Mike does
the high muscle work.

With God’s help Mike is building his business and his new life. Mike is also restoring his family. His son Mike Jr. is now living with him. Mike’s hope of regaining custody of his three daughters through DCF is growing more likely.

FSU - Obituary

Alan was released on FSU (Furlough) in 1999 and wanted a kitten to keep him company. Pastor John and Alta Ludlam graciously donated Mittens to Alan. As everyone knows when someone is on FSU, his family feels like they are on FSU too. So it was with Mittens. But there came a time when Alan had to go back into prison. So Mittens came to live with the Fiskes.
Eight years later Mittens settled into Pastor Pete and Jo’s home in Jericho. She enjoyed the wild living at the edge of a pine forest with plenty of mice, squirrels and chipmunks to chase. In mid August Mitty’s life came to an end quickly in the middle of the night when she met up with a predator stronger than herself. Mitty was laid to rest in Jo’s Flower Garden where Mitty had loved to hide. Her grave is marked with PA Field Stones left over from the wall that David Little had built in July before leaving for Covered Bridge. Mice, chipmunks, red and grey squirrels, chickadees, blue jays, and monarch butterflies all paid their respects with a bit of relief that the FSU Cat was finally laid to rest in peace.
CAP Board Members change

On August 31 Colette Groleau and Ed Wilbur became members of the Church At Prison Board of Directors. Susie Caron’s two year term ended in July. Susie will be greatly missed. Our current members are: Pastor Pete & Jo Fiske, William Eastman, Leo Noel, Pastor Connie Longe (Hunger Mt Christian Assembly), Brian Murphy Esq., Colette Groleau, Ed Wilbur, and Pastor Rick Menard (New Beginnings). Advisors to the Board of Directors are Ross Anderson, David Usher and Steve Austin.

CAP Staff BBQ

The first annual CAP Staff BBQ took place August 25 at the Fiske’s home in Jericho. With hamburgers, chicken, sausages, and shrimp kabobs on the grills there was plenty of protein for everyone’s palate. Then there were salads, deserts, beverages, with chipmunks and Alex cleaning up the crumbs.
While the women chatted the men went into the pine forest for a short hike led by Pastor Pete and the Fiske’s German Shepard Alex. Then Pastor Ray Fay led a vigorous prayer meeting, in the forest, as we prayed blessings on Murray Merlin and Steve Brown who both graduated from NWSCF and have become Ministry Staff members. Fruit of the ministry now bearing more fruit.
God was gracious and answered Pastor Pete and Jo’s prayer that He would stop the rain and allow us to cook and for everyone to eat and visit. God understood that the Fiske’s home (condo) was a bit small to fit everyone in for a meal.

We have started two bible studies this Fall: Learning to Walk with God, by Charlie Riggs, a guide to the essential steps of learning to walk as a follower of Jesus Christ, led on Monday evenings by Rev. Howard Van Dine (retired) and eager at the age of 86 years young to disciple men at NWSCF while working on a doctorate program at Vision International University; and an evangelistic approach Topical Bible study led by Pastor Pete and Jo, Church At Prison volunteers, area pastors and even several inmates. This opens the door for those men who are seeking to learn more about God, but would not follow through with a committed 12 week bible study with homework. We are thankful everyone’s participation!

Because of your faithful prayers, we are elated to report that a number of men now eligible for release are experiencing miracles of healing with parents and loved ones and new men are continuing to turn their lives over to the care of Jesus as their Lord and Savior!

We especially need your prayer support for Gods grace and leading as well as whatever the Lord prompts you to give during these perilous times. We ask for special prayers for: CAP’s involvement with the DOC Proposed Religious Observance Administrative Directive; Grants in Progress; New alliances with other VT Prison and Aftercare Ministries; Plans for Transitional Churches for released inmates and more.

Never forget the anchors we stand on: God’s character never changes! Gods’ word never changes, God’s offer never changes! God’s commission never changes! God’s promises never change! Amen

Please prayerfully consider your support of this ministry. With your help we will continue in this mission field and the Kingdom of God will continue advancing one soul at a time.

We love you and pray for God’s Blessings for you daily!
